Courage League Sports is a non-profit adaptive sports and recreational facility that offers year-round programming for children and adults who aren’t able to go full speed due to a physical, cognitive or emotional disability. By adapting the pace, equipment, or nature of an activity, Courage League can provide a safe and accessible environment where participants can go at their own speed.

Courage League Sports was inspired by Jack who at the age of eight suffered multiple strokes that forever changed his life. Frustrated at the lack of options for her son, Melissa Clarke-Wharff opened Courage League Sports where those with special needs could participate and be active outside of a therapy atmosphere. Today, Courage League serves nearly 1,000 kids & 500 adults on a monthly basis.

Class Descriptions

Cubs (2-6 Years) | Tigers (7-10 Years)

Ninja Circuit

An adaptive kickboxing class that works to enhance balance, agility, strength and the art of awesomeness. Basic punching and kicking skills, core and cardio exercises will be covered. Non-contact with huge impact.

Twigs

In this introduction to music, athletes will move and groove to their own beat while following along to music activities and age appropriate music.

Launchpad Sports

Launchpad is a unique class designed to train our participants in a variety of key areas. Balance, coordination and strength among others will be improved in this fun and engaging class. All activities are designed to provide participants the base they need to launch them into the next level of sports and fitness fun!

Courage Cubs Tumbling

Core. Strength. Balance. Coordination. The key concepts of early gymnastics will be addressed in this barrier-free class. Toddlers of ALL ability levels will enhance their social/sensory functions, locomotor skill development (hopping, crawling, landing, swinging and leaping) and physical fitness skills (throwing, climbing, eye hand coordination and balance) through movement education. Skills are taught through station work using specialized equipment and techniques.

Lil' Warrior

At Courage League even our youngest of participants can train to be warrior! This class will help to develop your child into a Lil’ Warrior as they test their strength, endurance and balance while moving through a variety of obstacles.

SPOKE (NEW)

Calling all beginning bikers! In this fast pace class, Courage Cubs will begin to learn the basics of riding a bike, Utilizing our Strider bikes and tricycles, Courage Cubs will practice getting on and off bikes, balancing, coasting and peddling to the finish line.

Wiggle & Waltz

In this introduction to music, athletes will move and groove to their own beat while following along to music activities and age appropriate music.

Sticks

Upbeat music and drumsticks are clinked overhead and bounced on exercise balls to get participants moving and grooving. This class combines motor movement with auditory and visual feedback, which makes it a great instrument for strengthening a variety of skills!

Lions (11-14 Years) | Panthers (15 – 19 Years)

Energy2Burn

A program incorporated into Lion/Panther league for youth with autism, ADHD, or those who have extra energy. We’ll keep these kiddos active and moving in-between activities.

Giant Gameboard Fitness

Board games get a lot more fun when they are super-sized. CLS has created a collection of life-sized board games using our participants as game pieces! Each game will incorporate different interactive movements that turn classic favorites like Jenga, Connect-Four, Giant Checker and more into live-action fun! Please PASS GO and collect a healthy lifestyle! You won’t beSorry!

Gladiator Challenge

An obstacle-based course that helps each participant become a Courage League Galdiator! With the use of specialized equipment participants will develop their gross motor skills and reach their maximum potential.

Rock Band

Utilizing metronomes, aerobic activities and energetic drumming, this is not your mama’s music class! Participants will strengthen their ability to perform and read rhythms, while banging on the drum all day.

Lion/Panther League

An adaptive recreational league aimed at introducing participants to sports related skills and games. Participants will have the opportunity to learn new skills while enhancing previously obtained skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. This fall we will learn skills associate with volleyball, basketball, soccer, and our very own courage ball!

Sticks

Channeling dreams of rock glory and tapping (literally) into a healthier lifestyle, this program combines pounding drumsticks on exercise balls for an adaptive core to cardio workout.

CLS Dance Squad

For teens and adults with any form of intellectual, behavioral, medical and/or physical disability who love to cheer! The Team Roar! POM Squad offers friends, fun, music, dancing, cheering and the opportunity to perform at community sporting events. Ask us about Special Olympics Cheer and Dance Opportunities!

Adults (19+ Years)

Active Adults in Action

A fun and engaging class that focuses on the gross motor movements associated with the leisure and outdoor sports while incorporating adaptive techniques to ensure that EveryBODY has the opportunity to play!

Yoga is good for EveryBODY! Through a combination of adaptive poses and calming techniques your child will be able to improve their balance, core strength and body awareness.

Stroke & Parkinson's Program

The goal of this 1 hour program is to provide meaningful exercise with the addition of fun, laughter, socialization and the overall sensation of accomplishment! Designed with Stroke and Parkinson’s participants in mind, classes will focus on fitness, movement and sensory experiences with a fun and creative twist! Components of the program include but are not limited to:



  • “Move to the beat” Fitness

  • “Going the Distance” Obstacle Course

  • “Sublime Sensory” (Music Stimulation)
