A program incorporated into Lion/Panther leagues for youth with Autism, ADHD, or those who have extra energy. We'll keep these kiddos active and moving in-between activities. 

Fantasy Fitness | Monday @ 5:30 PM

Ever wanted to be a part of your favorite video game? Here is your chance! CLS has created a series of new games that will turn your favorite virtual experiences into reality! From the classics to new favorites there is something for EveryBODY. No batteries required!

Inner Warrior | Wednesday @ 5 PM

An obstacle-based course that helps each participant find their Inner Warrior! With the use of specialized equipment participants will develop their gross motor skills and reach their maximum potential!

Jedi Training  | Tuesday @ 5 PM & Saturday @ 10:30 AM

It's back from the dark side and better than ever! Participants will be able to let their imaginations soar in a safe and accessible environment. This class is action-packed with all of the training a Jedi needs! The force will be strong with your loved one after this exciting class. 

Karaoke Cycling | Wednesday @ 4:30 PM & 6 PM

Through the use of our virtual cycling technology, adaptive recumbent bikes, arm cycles and karaoke machine,  our program allows participants of all ability levels to feel the burn while belting out their favorite tunes! 

Lion League | Monday - Thursday @ 5:30 PM

An adaptive recreational league aimed at introducing participants to sports related skills and games. Participants will have the opportunity to learn new skills while enhancing previously obtained skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. This Spring we will train our participants in soccer, tennis, baseball and field games.

Lion's Pride | Tuesday & Thursday @  6:30 PM 

A unique program created exclusively for youth with moderate to severe Autism or who require extra support.  With a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio of children to support staff, this program helps children incorporate into their lives the notions of structure and task completion by entertaining and engaging in age-appropriate sport skills and our EXERGAMING technology all while using a visual schedule and applied behavior analysis principles to assist with transition periods. Space is limited.  Registration required each session by calling 515-421-4021.     

Mindful Movement | Saturday @ 10 AM

Yoga is good for everyBODY! Through a combination of adaptive poses and calming techniques your child will be able to improve their balance, core strength and body awareness. 

Open Gym | Monday - Thursday @ 6:30 PM

Supervised and structured gym time for participants and their families/caregivers, including game options for children with special needs. Please visit our website or Facebook page for our weekly schedule. 

Rock Band | Monday @ 5 PM

We'll combine singing, dancing and instruments as we embrace self-expression in a fun and inviting atmosphere. 

Spin | Saturday @ 11 AM

With the help of our virtual cycling system, adaptive recumbent bikes, and arm cycles this program allows participants the opportunity to participate in a fun and engaging cardio workout. Additional exercises and movements will be incorporated with each workout, and don't forget the music.

Sticks | Thursday @ 5 PM

Percussion and fitness clash in this class! Participants will have the opportunity to explore the concept of rhythm while combining the use of drums and other percussion instruments with fun movements and fitness techniques. Drumsticks are just the beginning!

Team Roar! CLS Pom Squad/Dance Party | Wednesday @ 5:30 PM

Cheer/pom squad for participants with any form of intellectual, behavioral, medical, and/or physical disability who love to cheer!  The Team Roar! Pom Squad offers friends, fun, music, dancing, cheering, and the opportunity to perform at community sporting events. Ask us about our Special Olympics Cheer/Dance opportunities!

Club Sports

In today's world of fast-pace, competitive sports, youth with special needs are often sidelined due to risk of injury or simply "not being able to keep up".  Seasonal club play was created to get these same youth with a passion or interest in sports off the bench and IN the game, while practicing safety and playing at their own pace! This option of play provides participants who have had success at the recreational level an opportunity to step up their game!  Sessions will include 15-20 minutes of drill and station work, with the remaining time allotted for playing the sport. 

Power Sports | Monday @ 6:30 PM

Participation in power wheelchair sports has been on the rise in recent years, across the country and here at CLS. We are excited to continue to offer year-round sports options including: soccer, basketball, and pool! Interested in joining Courage League's tournament power soccer team, the Dominators? Floor Hockey | Tuesday @ 6:30 PM

All of the excitement of hockey without the ice! Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic floor hockey skills and apply them in controlled scrimmages during each session in a fun and safe environment!

Soccer | Wednesday @ 6:30 PM

Adaptive soccer league for EveryBODY! Skills such as dribbling, kicking, and teamwork will be practiced prior to a controlled scrimmage.

Standing & Wheelchair Basketball | Thursday @ 6:30 PM

Play-to-score basketball club with opportunities for 3-on-3 or 5-on-5 basketball scrimmages.  Sessions will consist of 15-20 minutes of drill and station work and end with controlled scrimmaging where players will be able to apply their newly or previously acquired basketball skills into a real game situation. 

Bike Camp

Session I: March 11 - April 1, Saturday @ 9:00 AM

Session II: April 15 - May 6, Saturday @ 9:00 AM

More than anything, this bike training camp focuses on the main problem that arises when learning to ride a bike - BALANCE. The solution  - by removing your child's pedals and training wheels (if applicable) and placing the saddle so low that they can rest their feet on the ground, we will transform your child's bike into its very own balance bike while following proper safety precautions. These precautions include: 1:1 staff/child ratio, helmet safety checks, gait belts, handle bar trainers, and progressive and skill appropriate lesson plans. Registration is required. Limit 6 participants per session.


Courage Adventures: Beyond our Walls

Rory's Riders  

Saddle up! This Spring season, CLS will be continuing to partner with Menagerie Stables of Altoona in offering adaptive recreational horseback riding and horsemanship lessons for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of children with special needs. Because, horseback riding rhythmically moves the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance, and core strength.  Not to mention, the positive effects on self-esteem and self-confidence. This program will be led by Deanna Mundt who has 8 years of experience working with children with special needs and providing therapeutic riding lesson. Space is limited.  To register, please call 515-421-4021.

CLS Adaptive Swimming 

Prepare your child for the upcoming swim season, by taking our water safety class now! This class was designed to familiarize toddlers with special needs, ages 3-6, to the water as a parent-child team.  Children will orient to the aquatic environment, gain basic aquatic skills, and gain greater independence in their skills all while developing more comfort in and around water.  Sessions will be held at Edge Water Senior Living Facility - equipped with zero entry in an 85 degree heated pool and will be led by an instructor certified in water safety and with 40 years of experience in swimming instruction.  Space is limited.  To register, please call 515-421-4021.

Wave N'Roar Sports
